Is this what you’re seeing?

  • You know something is off with one or more windows, but you’re not sure if it’s a repair, a part replacement, or a full window job
  • Drafts, fogging, sticking sashes, or condensation, but you don’t know which of those points to which fix
  • A home you just bought or are about to sell, and you want a plain-language read on window condition before you decide anything
  • Multiple small window issues around the house (a torn screen here, a gap in the caulk there, a chippy trim board somewhere else) and you want help sorting out what’s worth doing first
  • Curiosity about whether upgrading to more efficient glass makes sense for your home, without committing to a full replacement conversation yet
  • Wanting a second opinion after another contractor gave you a scope that felt bigger (or smaller) than expected

This is different from two other services we offer. If you already know you want new windows and just need someone to confirm exact opening sizes, our window measurement visit is the technical, on-site step for that. If your question is specifically about efficiency ratings, U-factor, and glass packages, our energy-efficient window consultation is the narrower, decision-focused version of this visit. This general consultation is the right starting point when you’re not yet sure which category your problem falls into.

Honest pricing

A window consultation is a diagnostic and planning visit, not a fixed-scope repair, so pricing here works differently than a line-item job. The full $249 fee is credited toward the cost of the work if you book it as a result of the visit.. For general context only, and not a Transit & Flow Group quote, HomeAdvisor’s window repair cost data puts the national average window repair around $405, with a typical range of $178 to $633 and a full range of $70 to $1,700 depending on the issue, which gives you a sense of how widely window problems can vary once diagnosed. Your consultation ends with a written read on what we found and, where a fix is clear, a preliminary online estimate for the next step. Final scope and price subject to verification once our team assesses your windows on site.

What’s included / what’s not included

Typically included:
– A walk-through of the windows you’re concerned about, inside and out
– Plain-language explanation of what’s causing each symptom you’ve noticed
– A recommendation on which service fits: repair, screen or trim or caulking work, measurement for replacement, or a broader replacement conversation
– A written summary you can keep, share, or use to plan a phased project
– Photos of anything worth documenting, especially hidden issues like frame rot behind trim

Typically not included unless added to scope:
– The repair or replacement work itself, which is scoped and priced separately
– Detailed opening-by-opening measurements for ordering windows (that’s the measurement visit)
– Structural or foundation assessment for basement window openings
– Permit research for work not yet scoped (permits and inspections may be required once a project is defined)

Why this matters for Central Ohio households

Central Ohio’s housing stock spans everything from 1920s bungalows in German Village to builder-grade homes from the 1990s and 2000s in Dublin, Lewis Center, and New Albany, and window problems show up differently depending on the era and construction. An older home might have three or four small, unrelated window issues stacked on top of each other: a cracked screen from a storm, caulk that’s dried out after a decade of freeze-thaw cycling, and a trim board that’s starting to soften near the sill. A newer home might have one efficiency question and nothing else wrong at all. Rather than guessing which service to book first, a consultation lets Transit & Flow sort the symptoms into an actual plan, prioritized by what matters most (safety and moisture intrusion first, comfort and efficiency second, cosmetics last). That matters in a region where a single missed diagnosis, like caulking over a rotting sill instead of replacing it, just delays a bigger repair by a season.

Our process

  1. Request a consultation. Use the Estimate Builder or call (614) 382-0000 and describe what you’re noticing, room by room if it’s more than one window.
  2. On-site walk-through. We look at each window you flagged, plus anything nearby that’s worth a second look, inside and outside the home.
  3. Diagnosis. We identify what’s actually causing each symptom rather than assuming the first likely cause.
  4. Recommendation. You get a written summary of what we found and which service, or combination of services, addresses it.
  5. Next steps. If you’re ready, we move straight into a preliminary online estimate for the recommended work. If you want to think it over, the summary is yours to keep.

Related services

If your consultation points toward a specific fix, Transit & Flow handles the full range of window work: window replacement for units at the end of their life, window measurement once you’re ready to order, egress windows for basement bedroom code compliance, and our narrower repair services for screens, trim, and caulking. Build your estimate or call (614) 382-0000 to get started.
