Caulking is the right call when a joint or gap needs to be sealed, not filled with grout, not painted, and not rebuilt. Common situations:

• Tub and shower surrounds. The joint between tile and tub, tile and wall corners, or a shower base and its enclosure. This is sealed with kitchen and bath silicone caulk, which stays flexible and resists standing water and daily humidity.
