Excavation Consultation is priced as a custom, standalone service rather than folded into a larger dig, because its whole purpose is figuring out scope before a bigger project is priced. Most consultations are a flat visit fee that can often be credited toward a booked project if you move forward with Transit & Flow within a set window. The full $249 fee is credited toward the cost of the work if you book it as a result of the visit..

What the consultation actually covers: a walk of the site with you, a look at grading, drainage patterns, existing structures, and visible utility infrastructure (meter locations, cleanouts, hydrants, overhead lines), and a conversation about your goals. We’ll tell you plainly which of our other services your project likely needs, in roughly what order, and what to expect from OUPS timelines and permitting before you commit money to design or construction. As general context, not a Transit & Flow Group quote, Angi’s 2026 data puts typical residential excavation project costs between about $1,500 and $6,900, with small utility trenching on the low end and larger foundation or basement excavation on the high end; your actual project could fall well outside that range depending on soil, access, and depth. – Formal engineering, soil testing, or a stamped survey (we can flag when one is likely needed)
– Placing the OUPS 811 ticket itself, which is handled under our OUPS Coordination service once a project is scheduled
– Permit applications or municipal submissions, handled under Permit Coordination
– Guaranteed final pricing for downstream work; the consultation informs an estimate, it isn’t the estimate itself
