Utility Locating Coordination fits a property owner in one of these situations:

How pricing works

Utility Locating Coordination is scope-based, range pricing. What affects the price:

• How many private lines are suspected or known. A single irrigation line is a smaller job than a property with irrigation, invisible fence, a private electrical run, and an unknown sewer lateral all in the same dig zone.
• Property size and layout. Larger lots, longer runs between the house and outbuildings, and more complex landscaping all add locating time.
• Whether a private locating contractor is needed. Some private lines can be identified from records, meter locations, and visual tracing; others need a private locating contractor with ground-penetrating radar or electromagnetic locating equipment, which is a separate line item.
• Coordination with the public OUPS ticket. When both are needed on the same project, we schedule them together, which is usually more efficient than handling them as two unrelated calls.

• Guaranteed identification of every unmapped private line, since some older or undocumented lines may not be locatable by any method

Central Ohio context

Private lines are a bigger issue here than many homeowners expect. Central Ohio’s older neighborhoods, Clintonville, Bexley, German Village, and similar areas, often have decades of add-on irrigation systems, invisible fencing, and outbuilding wiring installed by different owners over the years with little or no documentation. Newer subdivisions in Dublin, New Albany, and Lewis Center tend to have better original records, but private laterals and irrigation lines still fall outside what any public locate will mark, no matter how new the neighborhood is.
