Artwork Installation in Columbus, Ohio
Transit & Flow Group installs larger, heavier, or more valuable art pieces for Columbus and Central Ohio homeowners: oversized canvases, gallery-scale prints, shelving-mounted sculptural pieces, and other work that needs more careful handling and hardware than a typical framed photo. This is a different tier of care than standard picture hanging, matched to the weight, size, and value of the piece, not a one-size hanging service. Tell us about your piece and its size or weight in the Estimate Builder for a preliminary online estimate.

Is this the right service for you?
Artwork Installation is the right service when a piece is significantly larger, heavier, or more valuable than a typical framed photo or print, an oversized canvas, a substantial gallery print in a heavy frame, a sculptural piece needing a mounted shelf or bracket, or anything where handling damage would be a real loss. These pieces get hardware selected for actual weight and mounting geometry, French cleats, security hardware, or bracket-and-shelf systems, plus the careful handling that comes with installing something you can’t easily replace.
If your pieces are standard-weight framed photos or prints, especially several at once, Picture Hanging is the appropriately scaled and priced service for that, with leveling and spacing as the main value-add rather than specialized handling. If what you actually have is a mirror rather than artwork, Mirror Hanging covers that with mirror-specific hardware. We’ll tell you plainly which category a piece falls into if it’s not obvious from the description.
How pricing works
Artwork Installation is fixed, per-piece pricing based on size, weight, and handling requirements:
- Size and weight are the main driver, since larger and heavier pieces need stronger anchoring, often French cleats or a bracket system rather than a single hook, and sometimes a second installer to handle the piece safely.
- Value and fragility affect handling time and materials: pieces that need padded transport within the home, careful unwrapping, or extra care during positioning take longer than a straightforward hang.
- Wall type changes the anchoring approach, and heavier art on plaster, brick, or masonry generally costs more than the same piece on drywall over studs, since the fastening method has to change.
- Shelving or bracket-mounted pieces are priced differently than a hung piece, since they involve installing a load-bearing mount before the art or object goes in place.
As general market context, not a Transit & Flow quote, Thumbtack’s cost data shows professional art installation typically running $98 to $213 per job on average, with per-piece pricing around $55 to $165 for standard work; installers commonly charge more for heavy pieces, specialized hardware, or difficult wall types like masonry, sometimes 50% more, and larger or more complex installations can run higher. Starting at $249, itemized at booking based on scope.

Central Ohio context
Weight and wall type matter more with larger art than with a standard picture frame, and Central Ohio’s housing stock varies enough that we assess each wall before choosing hardware. In older Clintonville, German Village, and Bexley homes, plaster-and-lath walls are harder and more brittle than drywall, and a large canvas or bracket-mounted piece needs anchoring that accounts for that, since plaster can crack around a standard anchor under real weight. Stud spacing in these homes is also less predictable than in modern framing.
In newer Dublin, New Albany, and Lewis Center homes, drywall over consistent stud spacing generally makes anchoring more straightforward, and these open-concept great rooms are also where we see the most oversized statement pieces and shelving-mounted art, spaces built with large, uninterrupted walls specifically meant for larger work.
