Is this what you’re seeing?
Homeowners usually start shopping for gutter guards after living through one of these:
- Cleaning gutters three or four times a year because you live under mature maples or oaks in Clintonville, Upper Arlington, or Westgate, and the seed drop alone fills a gutter by June.
- A close call on a ladder. Many of our customers are done climbing, full stop, and want a system that makes annual cleaning someone else’s job or no one’s job.
- Ice dams every winter. Clogged gutters hold water that freezes, backs up, and works under the shingle edge. Guards do not cure ice dams, but open, flowing gutters remove one big contributor.
- Downspouts that gurgle and overflow while the gutter run looks clean from the ground. Debris often collects at the outlet, exactly where you cannot see it.
- You already paid for guards once and got cheap vinyl screens that collapsed into the gutter. You want something that actually stays put this time.
We will also tell you when guards are the wrong buy. If your gutters are undersized, badly pitched, or rusting, guards on top of a failing system waste money. We check that first.
How pricing works
Gutter guard installation is priced per linear foot, and the guard type drives most of the difference. Here is the honest logic:
- Guard type. Surgical-grade micro-mesh costs the most and blocks the smallest debris, including shingle grit and maple seeds. Perforated aluminum costs less and handles leaves well but passes some small debris. We quote both when both make sense.
- Gutter size and condition. Guards mount to 5-inch and 6-inch gutters differently, and any re-pitching or hanger repairs needed first get quoted as their own line.
- Roof height and pitch. Two-story installs and steep tie-ins take more time.
- Cleaning before installation. Guards go on clean, flowing gutters only. If yours need a full clean and flush, that is included as a listed line item, not hidden in the footage price.

Why Central Ohio homes need the right guard, not just any guard
Tree cover in Columbus varies block by block, and the guard should match it. The older neighborhoods, Clintonville, Beechwold, the Hilltop, and Whitehall among them, sit under 60-to-100-year-old maples and oaks. Maple seeds are the hard case: they are small, they arrive by the thousands in late spring, and they slip straight through basic perforated screens. Under heavy maple cover, micro-mesh earns its price.
Newer areas like Dublin, New Albany, and Lewis Center often have younger trees and lighter debris loads, so a mid-grade perforated aluminum guard can perform well for less money. There is no reason to pay maple-canopy prices for a five-year-old street tree.
Winter matters too. Central Ohio’s freeze-thaw cycles mean guards must be fastened to handle snow sliding off the roof, and cheap snap-in screens routinely end up inside the gutter by February. That is why we fasten mechanically instead of relying on tension fits.
Our process
- Build your estimate online. Footage, stories, and tree cover go into the Estimate Builder for a preliminary online estimate.
- On-site inspection. We confirm footage, check gutter health, and identify your actual debris type from what is in the gutter right now.
- Product recommendation in writing. You get our recommended guard, one alternative, and the reason for each. Final scope and price subject to verification here.
- Clean, repair, install. Gutters are cleaned and flushed, minor pitch or hanger issues corrected if approved, then guards installed.
- Walkthrough. We show you the valleys and corners, explain what maintenance remains, and leave photos of the finished runs you cannot see from the ground.
Our installers are Bonded & Insured Professionals. Same-day availability may be available for inspections.
