Drywall Restoration in Columbus, Ohio
Transit & Flow Group handles drywall demolition and rebuild as part of an active restoration project, tearing out water-damaged, fire-damaged, or otherwise compromised drywall as an early mitigation step and rebuilding it once the rest of the project is ready, coordinated with moisture assessment, stabilization, and the full reconstruction timeline. This page is specifically for drywall work happening inside a larger, active restoration or insurance claim, not a standalone single-wall repair. Describe your project and photos in the Estimate Builder for a preliminary online estimate.

Is this the right service for you?
Drywall Restoration fits a homeowner or property in the middle of a broader restoration project, not someone with a single isolated water-damaged wall to fix on its own. Common situations:
- A restoration project is already underway after a burst pipe, storm damage, or fire, and drywall tear-out is part of the early mitigation work, alongside moisture assessment and stabilization.
- An active insurance claim needs drywall documented, removed, and rebuilt as part of a coordinated scope with the rest of the reconstruction.
- Multiple rooms or a large area need drywall demolition and rebuild together with framing, insulation, or other trades on the same timeline.
- Wet drywall needs to come out early to stop moisture from spreading further into framing and insulation while the rest of the restoration scope is still being finalized.
If what you actually have is a single water-damaged wall or ceiling to fix, with no larger active restoration project or insurance claim underway, our sibling page, Water Damage Drywall Repair, is the better and typically simpler fit: one wall or ceiling, moisture testing, drywall repair, and finish work, without coordinating a multi-stage restoration timeline. This page is for the opposite situation: drywall work that’s one piece of a bigger, active project, coordinated with our Moisture Assessment, Property Stabilization, and Temporary Protection pages and the eventual full reconstruction. If you’re not sure which fits, tell us what’s going on when you call.
How pricing works
Drywall Restoration is priced by scope, built from an on-site assessment as part of the broader restoration project. Site conditions after an active restoration event vary too much to price from a phone description alone, so an on-site look is standard:
- Area and extent of drywall affected across the project, since restoration-scale drywall work often spans multiple rooms rather than one wall.
- Demolition versus rebuild timing. Tear-out sometimes happens early as mitigation, with rebuild scheduled once moisture levels are confirmed dry and other trades are ready, which is priced and scheduled as its own phase.
- Coordination with other restoration trades, framing repair, insulation replacement, or reconstruction, affects sequencing and cost since drywall work has to align with that timeline.
- What’s found once drywall comes down, hidden framing damage, additional moisture, or mold-suspect material, is photographed, priced, and paused for your decision before continuing. No silent scope growth.
Enter your project details and photos in the Estimate Builder for a preliminary online estimate. Final scope and price subject to verification on site. As general market context, not a Transit & Flow Group quote, HomeAdvisor’s 2026 data puts water-damaged drywall repair at roughly $300 to $850 per section, with larger, multi-room restoration-scale drywall projects running well beyond that depending on extent. If insurance is involved, Transit & Flow Group is not a public adjuster and does not negotiate your claim on your behalf, though our documentation supports it.
What’s included
- Coordinated demolition of damaged drywall as an early mitigation step, timed with the rest of the restoration project
- Moisture testing of surrounding framing and board before rebuild begins
- New drywall set, taped, mudded, sanded, and textured to match surrounding surfaces once the area is confirmed dry
- Documentation and photos at each phase, useful for your insurance claim
- Coordination with our Moisture Assessment, Property Stabilization, and Temporary Protection teams on the same project
- All workmanship is backed by a 1-year labor warranty on labor, parts, and equipment covered per manufacturer terms.
What’s not included
- Standalone repair of a single water-damaged wall or ceiling with no larger active restoration project underway; see our Water Damage Drywall Repair page for that situation
- Mold remediation; Transit & Flow does not perform this, and any mold-suspect material found during demolition is disclosed and referred to a separately qualified specialist before rebuild continues in that area
- Asbestos or lead paint testing and abatement; in older homes, opening up wet or damaged drywall can plausibly disturb either, and Transit & Flow does not perform abatement, referring that work to a separately qualified specialist if suspect material is found
- Structural framing repair itself, though we coordinate directly with that scope
- Moisture source repair, such as plumbing or roofing; that’s handled by the relevant trade before drywall closes back up
- Full reconstruction beyond drywall, such as flooring, cabinetry, or trim; see our restoration repair and reconstruction page
Central Ohio context
Restoration-scale drywall work in Central Ohio has to move on the project’s timeline, not in isolation. A burst pipe or storm-driven leak in an older home in Clintonville, German Village, or Bexley often means plaster-and-lath mixed with drywall, and moisture can travel farther through that assembly than through modern board before it’s visible, which is exactly why coordinated demolition and moisture testing come before any rebuild. Older homes in these neighborhoods are also more likely to raise asbestos or lead paint questions once original materials are opened up, and we flag that plainly rather than rebuilding over an unresolved question.
Newer construction in Dublin, New Albany, and Lewis Center is typically more straightforward, drywall throughout with more predictable framing, but restoration-scale projects there still require the same sequencing: tear-out timed with moisture assessment and stabilization, rebuild timed with the rest of reconstruction. Central Ohio’s humid summers make it especially important not to close a wall back up before moisture readings confirm the area is actually dry, since trapped moisture behind new drywall creates the exact conditions that lead to mold-suspect material later.
Our process
- Describe your project online. What happened, what’s already underway, and photos go into the Estimate Builder for a preliminary online estimate.
- On-site assessment and coordination. We evaluate the drywall scope alongside any active moisture assessment, stabilization, or protection work already in progress.
- Demolition as mitigation. Damaged drywall is removed early where needed to stop moisture from spreading further, with documentation throughout.
- Moisture confirmation. Surrounding framing and board are tested before any rebuild begins.
- Rebuild and finish. New drywall is set, taped, mudded, textured, and finished to match surrounding surfaces once the project timeline allows, coordinated with the rest of your reconstruction.
Services completed by appropriately qualified professionals where required.
