Is this the right service for you?
Inspection Coordination fits a homeowner in one of these situations:
- Your permits are already issued and you now need someone to schedule each required inspection with the municipality and be on-site to meet the inspector.
- You are working with a contractor who is not handling inspection scheduling themselves, and want that piece managed independently so nothing gets missed between project milestones.
- You have had an inspection get missed or delayed before, holding up the next phase of work, and want a dedicated point of contact tracking the schedule this time.
- You want someone present who can speak to the work directly with the inspector, rather than relying on whoever happens to be on-site that day.
- Your project has multiple inspection points, framing, electrical rough-in, plumbing rough-in, insulation, final, and you want one coordinated schedule instead of managing each call yourself.
This is a different service than Permit Coordination, a separate page. Permit Coordination is about obtaining and managing the permits themselves, the applications, drawings, and approvals needed before or as work begins. Inspection Coordination is about what comes after: scheduling and attending the municipal inspections that verify the work at defined points once permits are pulled and work is underway. Most construction and remodeling projects need both services, generally in that order, permits first, inspections at each project milestone. If you have not yet pulled permits, start with Permit Coordination and add Inspection Coordination once work begins.
How pricing works
Inspection Coordination is diagnostic-fee pricing, not scope-based ranges like the fixed-project pages in this lineup. You pay a flat coordination fee per scheduled inspection visit, covering the scheduling call, being present to meet the municipal inspector, and communicating the result to you:
- Flat per-visit coordination fee covers scheduling the inspection with your municipality and having a Transit & Flow representative present for it. Starting at $299.
- Number of inspections varies by project. A simple electrical upgrade might need one inspection; a room addition or structural remodel typically needs several across different trades and project phases. Starting at $299.
- What the fee does not include. The municipal inspection itself is conducted by the jurisdiction’s own inspector, and any fee the municipality charges for that inspection is separate from our coordination fee. If an inspection fails and requires a follow-up visit, that follow-up is scheduled and priced as its own coordination visit.
- No obligation to book construction work with us. Inspection Coordination can be booked as its own service alongside a contractor of your choosing.
As general market context, not a Transit & Flow Group quote, HomeGuide’s 2026 data shows municipal building and home inspection fees typically running $100 to $500 per visit, with some cities bundling inspection costs into the overall permit fee instead of charging separately, and a failed inspection commonly triggering a $40 to $100 re-inspection fee. Those figures reflect what jurisdictions themselves charge for the inspection, separate from what Transit & Flow charges to schedule the visit and be present for it. Enter your project details and photos in the Estimate Builder for a preliminary online estimate. Final scope and price subject to verification once our team reviews your project.
What’s included
- Scheduling each required inspection with your municipality at the correct project phase
- A Transit & Flow representative present on-site to meet the inspector
- Communicating the inspection result to you in plain language, pass, fail, or conditional
- Coordinating next steps if an inspection does not pass the first time
- Tracking your project’s full inspection schedule across multiple phases, when applicable
What’s not included
- The construction work itself, which is scoped and priced separately by trade
- Municipal inspection fees charged directly by the jurisdiction, separate from our coordination fee
- Permit Coordination, obtaining and managing the permits that authorize the work in the first place; that is its own service, and it typically comes first
- Correcting failed inspection items; that work is scoped and priced as its own repair, separate from the coordination visit
- Inspections for work performed by another contractor without Transit & Flow’s involvement in the underlying scope, which may require additional review before we can attend
Permits and inspections may be required at multiple points in most construction and remodeling projects, and requirements vary by municipality and scope.
Central Ohio context
Inspection scheduling in Central Ohio runs through whichever municipality your project sits in, and Columbus, Dublin, Westerville, Grove City, and the surrounding townships each set their own inspection windows, notice requirements, and inspector assignment process. Missing a scheduling window can mean waiting days for the next available slot, which stalls the next trade on your project in the meantime.
Older homes in neighborhoods like Clintonville, German Village, and Bexley sometimes surface additional inspection points when a remodel uncovers prior unpermitted work that needs to be brought current before the new inspection can proceed. In newer construction across Dublin, New Albany, and Lewis Center, projects more often move through a standard inspection sequence without surprises, though larger additions there can still require inspections across several trades in a single project. Either way, a coordinated schedule kept by one point of contact is what keeps a multi-phase project moving instead of stalling between trades.
Our process
- Confirm your project and permits online. Details go into the Estimate Builder for a preliminary online estimate; if permits are not yet pulled, we point you to Permit Coordination first.
- Book your inspection schedule online or by calling (614) 382-0000.
- We schedule each required inspection with your municipality at the appropriate project phase.
- On-site attendance. A Transit & Flow representative meets the inspector and communicates the result to you afterward.
- Next steps coordinated. If an item does not pass, we help coordinate the correction and the follow-up inspection visit.
Services completed by appropriately qualified professionals where required.
