Interior Color Consultation in Columbus and Central Ohio
Choosing one paint color is manageable. Choosing colors that flow logically from your entryway into your living room, kitchen, hallways, and bedrooms without feeling choppy or accidental is a different problem. Transit & Flow Group’s interior color consultation is the interior counterpart to our exterior color consultation: it’s built for whole-home or whole-room color coordination, so every space works with the ones next to it. Build a preliminary online estimate, or call (614) 382-0000 to start planning.

Is this what you’re seeing?
- Planning to repaint several rooms and wanting the colors to flow rather than feel disconnected
- Overwhelmed by paint chips and unsure how to narrow hundreds of options to a workable palette
- Moving into a new home and wanting a whole-house color plan before painting begins
- Repainting after a renovation and needing new colors to work with existing flooring, cabinetry, or trim
- Wanting a professional opinion before committing to a bold color in a main living space
- Planning both an interior refresh and an exterior refresh and wanting the two to feel connected, with the outside handled through our separate Exterior Color Consultation
Honest pricing
Interior color consultation is priced on a custom, consultation basis, since the deliverable is a color plan rather than painted walls. For general market context, Angi’s cost data on hiring an interior designer places typical consultation fees in the $150 to $500 range, with hourly rates commonly running $50 to $200 depending on experience and market. A February 2026 Forbes report on paint color consultants also profiled providers charging roughly $299 to $449 for in-home interior consultations covering multiple rooms, with lower-cost virtual options available; these figures describe the broader color consulting market and are not a Transit & Flow quote. This visit is $249.. Final scope and price subject to verification once our design team assesses your space and goals.
What’s included / what’s not included
Typically included:
– Whole-home or whole-room color plan across multiple connected spaces
– Guidance on coordinating wall color with existing flooring, cabinetry, and trim
– In-person or well-lit sample comparison, since interior lighting changes how color reads room to room
– A written color plan you can hand to your painting contractor
– Coordination with Transit & Flow’s own interior and exterior painting teams if you’re using us for the work as well
Typically not included unless added to scope:
– The interior painting work itself, which is a separate service
– Exterior color decisions, which are covered on our Exterior Color Consultation page
– Wallpaper, cabinetry refinishing, or other finish selections beyond paint color
– Permit fees, which are uncommon for interior painting but vary by municipality if structural work is involved
Why this matters for Central Ohio households
Central Ohio homes cover a wide range of eras and styles, from compact original layouts in Bexley and Worthington to more open, light-filled floor plans in newer Dublin, Powell, and New Albany builds, and natural light varies enough between these homes that a color that reads warm in one house can read flat in another. Older homes with smaller rooms and more defined hallways often need a more deliberate color strategy so spaces feel connected rather than choppy, while open-concept newer homes need colors that hold up across large sightlines. Whole-home color planning also matters when a household is coordinating interior work alongside an exterior refresh, since the two don’t always need to match but do benefit from feeling like they belong to the same home. Our design team treats interior color planning as its own discipline, distinct from picking a single accent wall shade.
Our process
- Online estimate or call. Use the Estimate Builder or call (614) 382-0000 and describe which rooms or the whole home you’d like coordinated.
- Home walkthrough. Our designer reviews your layout, natural light, flooring, cabinetry, and existing trim.
- Palette development. We build two or three coordinated color directions that flow logically from room to room.
- Sample comparison. You see larger samples in each room’s actual lighting rather than judging chips alone.
- Written color plan. You receive a documented plan covering every room in scope.
- Handoff to painting. If you’re ready, this plan feeds directly into an interior painting estimate.
