Is this what you’re seeing?

  • Wanting to plan your whole home for aging in place, not just the bathroom, if your project is bathroom-only, our existing Aging-in-Place Bathroom Design page covers that in depth already
  • Planning across the kitchen, bathrooms, entryways, and hallways for long-term comfort, rather than tackling one room at a time
  • A parent or family member moving in and needing broader adjustments throughout the home
  • Wanting a home that supports mobility needs generally, not specifically tied to aging, in which case our broader Accessibility Design page may be the better fit
  • Narrow hallways, stepped entries, or high thresholds throughout the home that could become harder to manage over time
  • Wanting one cohesive, prioritized plan rather than a series of disconnected projects

Honest pricing

Aging-in-place design is a consultation-based service, and pricing depends on how many rooms and pathways are involved and whether the plan calls for layout changes or more targeted hardware and fixture updates. As general market context, not a Transit & Flow quote, industry data on aging-in-place design specialists cites home safety assessment fees in the roughly $300 to $1,000 range and hourly consultation rates of about $75 to $200. Our design consultation walks through your whole home and priorities to build a preliminary online estimate, or you can start with a conversation if you’d rather talk through options first. Final scope and price subject to verification once our design team assesses your space and goals.

What’s included / what’s not included

Typically included:
– Whole-home design consultation covering multiple rooms and pathways, not a single room
– A prioritized roadmap for which areas to address first based on your goals and budget
– Layout and fixture recommendations room by room
– Coordination with our bathroom, kitchen, and Accessibility Design teams where a room needs a deeper design pass

Typically not included unless added to scope:
– Construction or installation labor
– Detailed bathroom-specific design work already covered by our Aging-in-Place Bathroom Design page, if that’s the only room in scope
– Structural changes beyond the agreed design
– Permit fees, which vary by municipality (permits and inspections may be required)

Why this matters for Central Ohio households

Many Central Ohio homeowners are planning to stay in their current home rather than move, and that’s driving demand for whole-home plans that work at every stage of life instead of a series of separate remodels. Older housing stock in neighborhoods like Bexley, Upper Arlington, Worthington, and Clintonville often has narrow hallways, stepped entries, and room layouts that need thoughtful, coordinated design work across the whole house, not just one bathroom. Multi-generational households, increasingly common across the region, often need a home that works for a range of ages and mobility levels at once. Our design team treats this as a whole-home design project first, with safety and long-term comfort built into the plan.
