Drywall Installation is for spaces with exposed studs, joists, or masonry and no drywall on them at all: an unfinished basement being turned into living space, a garage converted to a bedroom or office, a new addition that’s been framed and is ready to be closed in, or a room stripped down to the studs as part of a larger renovation. The job starts from bare framing, not from an existing wall that needs fixing.

That’s a genuinely different scope from anything on our repair pages, and it’s worth stating plainly since the line isn’t always obvious from the outside looking in. If your walls already have drywall on them and it’s damaged, holes, water stains, cracked seams, that’s repair work, not installation. • Total area to be hung. More square footage means more sheets, more seams to tape, and more finishing time, and it’s the single biggest driver of cost.
• Ceiling versus walls. Ceilings take longer to hang and finish overhead, and basement projects often need both.
• Board type. Standard panels cost less than moisture-resistant board, which we typically recommend for basements and any space near plumbing.
• Finish level. A basic taped-and-finished surface ready for paint costs less than a smooth, level-5 finish some homeowners want under bright or angled lighting.
• Access and framing condition. Tight stairwells, low basement ceilings, and minor framing corrections needed before drywall goes up all affect labor time.

Central Ohio context

Basement finishing drives a lot of our installation work here, and Central Ohio basements have their own quirks.
